Mastering Your Cannabis Experience: A Guide to Using and Choosing Grinders

If you like to smoke weed using a hand pipe, water pipe, or rolling papers, you’re going to want to use a grinder. The good news is that they’re user-friendly, once you know what to do. There are plenty of varieties of grinders so it can be challenging to choose which one is your favorite. In this article, we’re going to share everything you need to know about grinders:

What Is a Grinder?

A cannabis grinder, or even “weed” grinder as they’re occasionally called, is a tool used to break cannabis flower into small pieces, so it can be packed into the bowl of your favored pipe. Grinders are available in a few different ranges, featuring grinders with kief catchers, which allow you to maximize the capacity of your cannabis by collecting those dried trichomes.

Grinders can be made out of a variety of different components, featuring plastic, wood, and steel, which offer their benefits and disadvantages. Metal grinders are more expensive but easier to wash, plastic grinders are cheaper but tend to crack, and wood grinders can be beautiful to the eye but can be a real pain to clean. They can be found in different sizes, ranging from only a pair of inches broad to half a foot. Click here to buy custom grinders wholesale.

Types of Grinders

Grinders might be made from metal, plastic, or wood, with some assembled in as many as 5 products.

  • Two-piece grinders include a lid and grinder bottom (also called a bud catcher).
  • Three-piece grinders include a top, grinding chamber, and storage chamber.
  • Four- and five-piece grinders have a lid, grinder base, space catcher, and one or two kief catchers.

The addition of a kief catcher may influence some artistic usages for the collected kief. You can press it into hash or even rosin, spray some into a favored recipe, or even smooth your joint in kief for an added effective zing.

How Do You Use a Grinder?

Once you know all about grinders, it is time to know how to use them.

Place Flower in Grinder

Depending upon the size of your weed flower, you may have the ability to add the whole flower, or even you might need to break off a piece of the bud and place it into the grinder. Pop open the lid of the grinder and collect that small weed flower. Put your cannabis in between the teeth of the grinder. Then, place the lid again.

Replace the Lid & Grind

Twist the lid and the bottom of the grinder in the opposite direction. This will break up the cannabis in the grinder. Typically, you need about 10-15 variations, but you can always take the lid off, inspect your work, and place the top back on if you need a few additional spins. Depending on your grinders, the cannabis is going to either be sitting in between the teeth or underneath them in the storage chamber below.

Open & Use

This is our favorite step available at the lid and grab your weed. The pieces should be just the right size to add your rolling papers or even pipe. If you have a kief catcher, you can also add a bit of your kief to the top of your bowl or even spread it before rolling your “joint.” Kief adds effectiveness to your weed flower, so you don’t need a lot to feel its impact.
